The February Labor Force Estimates were recently released showing the unemployment rate decreased in all 95 counties.
Moore County had the lowest unemployment rate at 1.8% and Cocke County had the highest unemployment rate at 6.3%. Lake County had the second highest rate at 5.8%. Overall, our area’s rate decreased to 3.4% from the January rate of 3.9%, for a total of 3,666 unemployed out of a labor force of 106,358. The labor force increased by 468 from 105,890 in January. Our area had the fourth highest unemployment rate in the state behind Southeast (3.5%), Southwest (3.6%) and Greater Memphis (5.0%). Above is the breakdown by county for our area.
