Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a licensed electrician? Interested High school seniors (or just graduated) are invited to participate in the SHOCK and AWE Day! on June 6th.
Registered Electrical Apprenticeship Preparation (REAP), a partnership with the Northwest Tennessee Workforce Board and Amteck University, includes an aggressive employer-driven awareness campaign, a hands-on orientation, and a two-week pre-apprenticeship work experience program. Interested high school seniors (or just graduated) are required to participate in “Shock & Awe Day” in order to be selected for the 2-week Amteck University Pre-Apprenticeship program scheduled to begin on July 13th. Upon successful completion, graduates will be eligible for hire by Amteck and may be accepted into the 4- year Registered Apprenticeship to become a Journeyman/ Licensed Electrician, earning an estimated $70,000 annually. SHOCK and AWE! Day will give students the experience of being literally “shocked” with low voltage electricity, and “awed” as they travel 50+ feet above ground level in a bucket truck) to provide insight into the day in the life of an Electrician.
Interested students must show up at Amteck at 1024 E. Court Street, Dyersburg, at 7:45 WITH a signed waiver, available HERE.
